META-WHO?!
Metaglyph is a one-man design studio based in New York City; my name is Ronald Gehrmann. I'm passionate about organizing information, making it easy to understand, and presenting it in visually appealing ways.
Having worked in typography and print design since 1988, and web design since 1995, I understand the different rules that apply to each medium, and can design effective communication for specific applications and target audiences for the screen and the printed page.
Usability is my goal. I'm committed to serving the user, the consumer of information. I do this by creating sensible designs -- not by catering to the "fad of the month" in graphic design.
Content comes first: I strive to develop a look and structure to match the nature and quantity of the client's information.
My websites, printed pieces, and photography express my design philosophy better than words.
Why "metaglyph"? It's a word I constructed from meta, a prefix which means "more comprehensive" and the word glyph, "a symbol that imparts information." I chose the name metaglyph because my goal is designing communication that is well thought-out and attractive on many different levels.
